B & J Medical has achieved dual certification to ISO 13485 -2003 and to ISO 9001-2008 from NFS-ISR of Ann Arbor, Mich.

Dual certification means that medical device manufacturers who contract B & J Medical can be assured their products are produced to the very highest of quality levels, that regulatory requirements are met, and that continuous improvement minimizes their costs.

B & J Specialty for the last several years produced medical devices at Wawaka and South Milford facilities. Early this year, B & J Medical Division was created to focus on the medical device market and meet the increasing demand for medical devices.

B & J acquired the building at 1120 E. South St., Albion, and converted it into a modern, state-of-the-art medical device facility that included resurfacing the floors, replacing lights, and air conditioning the facility. After starting operations in February, about one new machine tool has been added each week and the work force has grown to more than 15 people.

"To achieve ISO certification after only three months of being in the building is a credit to the hard work of the individuals at B & J Medical and reflects the competence and dedication of the all the team members at B & J," said John Wicker, president and CEO of B & J Specialty.
